After crash-landing to Earth (right into a Blockbuster!), Captain Marvel has no recollection of her time on Earth. She runs into Nick Fury, and the threat of war and intergalactic conflict looms over. There’s glimpses of her new interstellar life, but also snippets of her past as a regular human. It’s a past she can’t remember just yet, though right now, she’s something more than that.
“I’m not what you think I am,” Captain Marvel says, before the trailer cuts to her fully powering up in her red, blue and gold suit.
You saw the dude with the pager, right? 90s.
The first trailer for the highly anticipated Captain Marvel is here. Played by Academy Award-winner Brie Larson, Captain Marvel — the heroic alter ego of U.S. Air Force pilot Carol Danvers — finds herself caught in the center of an intergalactic alien conflict. The film is set in the 1990s, decades before the Avengers assembled, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we know it was formed.
As the first female-led and female-co-directed film per Polygon in the MCU, Captain Marvel already has fans excited, but the post-credits scene in Infinity War, in which Nick Fury sends a distress signal featuring the Captain Marvel logo, made many wonder just how this standalone would set up the yet-to-be-titled Avengers 4. The trailer isn’t revealing anything on that front, but what it does offer is large-scale action and intergalactic mayhem that reaches for Infinity War’s heights.
The official synopsis is below:
The story follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races. Set in the 1990s, “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Captain Marvel will be in theaters March 8, 2019.
Now, Ms. Larson…that internet will be broken.
