Author: Mary Anne Butler

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.

If you are a fan of Andy Weir‘s amazing book “The Martian,” chances are you’ve also read his two followup novels- “Artemis,” and “Project Hail Mary.” The latter of those is actually getting a feature film adaptation from Christopher Miller and Phil Lord (“The LEGO Movie,” “Spider-Verse“), which will star Ryan Gosling!Miller himself confirmed we’ll be getting our first trailer for the film on Monday, June 30th! Without getting into any kind of spoiler territory, Gosling will play Ryland Grace, a middleschool teacher-turned-astronaught who is on a mission to save Earth. He is pretty much humanity’s last ditch hope- a Hail Mary play, if you will.…

When Disney announced a third film in the “Tron” franchise, we sat fully forward in our chairs. Think the Vince McMahon getting excited meme. With each new reveal for “Tron: Ares” – the creative team, casting (minus Jared Leto)- the impending thrill progressed. Everything peaked when Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross of industrial pioneers Nine Inch Nails were confirmed to be handling the score. “It’s different [from the previous Tron scores], and in places, perhaps takes a bigger swing for what music can do in cinema,” Ross told Empire Magazine in their upcoming “Tron: Ares” issue. “Without sounding fucking pompous. I mean,…

We want to start by saying this is a very, very interesting idea. Looking at the great Mel Brooks’ body of work, it’s hard to name another filmmaker with comedies so instantly quotable and timeless. (Okay, yes, “Blazing Saddles” is one of those flicks that maybe doesn’t connect with modern audiences like it did during it’s release.) But a prequel? To “Young Frankenstein?!” From the “What We Do In The Shadows” folks, with Brooks producing? We’re sitting forward in our seats in anticipation. According to reports, a pilot order is “close” for a potential series at FX. Stefani Robinson would…

We are SO excited for Marvel Studios’ upcoming film “The Fantastic Four: First Steps.” Welcoming the First Family of Marvel Comics into the MCU is something we didn’t think would happen. Especially with a cast this good! Pedro Pascal (“The Last of Us“) plays Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby (“The Crown,” “Mission: Impossible“) is Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn (“Stranger Things,” “Gladiator II“) is Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (“The Bear“) is Ben Grimm/The Thing. Julia Garner (“Ozark,” “The Americans“) is playing Shalla Bal/The Silver Surfer. Paul Walter Hauser (“Blackbird“) was also added to the cast, but his role is also being kept underwraps. John Malkovich (“Billions,” “The New Look“) is playing…

It’s about damn time. 2000AD is no stranger to adaptations of their iconic comics. But, it has been a long while since we’ve had any news about any of the long-gestating projects from Rebellion Studios. Like the “Judge Dredd” continuation/sequel/prequel “Mega-City One,” which may have been another casualty of the pandemic. Writer/director Duncan Jones (“Moon,” “Mute”) has also been working on a project inspired by another iconic 2000AD character, and we FINALLY have some images from the finished film. We’re talking of course about “Rogue Trooper.” Last year, Jones confirmed the cast for his animated take on the comic book,…
