Building Bridges of Belonging: Initiating Play with Others (preK) with Elizabeth Fraley Kinder Ready

To a PreK child, the playground may seem like a social border. Learning how to go out there and walk bravely up to the people and say, Can I play? is an essential life skill that preconditions academic interactions, friendship and emotional well-being. This is an important skill of initiating play, and it is at the core of the Elizabeth Fraley Kinder Ready philosophy, where social initiative is not considered a natural ability, but rather a learnable skill necessary to school readiness.

The Future of a Future Learner

The initial step towards a peer is perceived to be far more than mere play at Kinder Ready Tutoring. It is a complicated process of communication, planning, and emotional regulation that is the direct predictor of classroom success. Children will need to develop an idea and speak a language to convey it properly and graciously, in case they do not get their idea through at first. This is a process that is essential to the important executive processes, such as cognitive flexibility and self-regulation- the ability to follow multi-step instructions and switch between classroom activities.

Moreover, children whose social-emotional skills are well developed (developed through play) have more advantages in cultivating positive relationships, working cooperatively and learning, resulting in higher academic performance.

Kinder Ready Approach: The Confidence-Building Approach, Inside-Out.

Kinder Ready Elizabeth Fraley programs are specifically structured to form confidence and definite skills that are necessary in social initiation.

Social Risks Supportive Environment: The program will foster a supportive and organized environment in which children are comfortable exercising social strategies. Guided group activities offer a natural structure of interaction, which helps them to develop vocabulary and confidence to express their ideas about the play to others.

Modelling and Role-Play: The educator and parents can be active in modelling positive interactions, simply demonstrating how children can introduce themselves or request to join a game. Within the individualized environment created by Kinder Ready Tutoring, a child will be able to practice these social scripts individually and become comfortable with using them in a low-stress situation and then transfer them to the context of a group of peers.

Activities That Teach Teamwork: The curriculum uses play-based learning, using activities that are naturally teamwork activities. Playing a group game such as putting together a tower, figuring out a puzzle, or shared storytelling, will teach the children communication, turn-taking and goal-setting, the key elements of successful play initiation.

    A Social Success Partnership.

Kinder Ready Tutoring has a mission of exposing children to various methods of learning so that they develop a love of learning, which is a true love. Self-assured socialization is an essential element of this process. Elizabeth Fraley Kinder Ready offers young learners the means of communication, emotional resilience, and emotional resilience by systematically developing the skills of a child.

The outcome is a child who is ready to walk out onto the playground and into the classroom with confidence, prepared to associate, cooperate and succeed in the society of their contemporaries.
