The Daily Jaws Announces 50th Anniversary Interview Series

June 20th marks a special day for fans of Steven Spielberg‘s enduring “Jaws.” It was in the summer of 1975 when the world was introduced to the very first film to be called a ‘blockbuster.’ As part of the celebrations planned for this monumental 50th anniversary, our friends at the number one “Jaws” fansite The Daily Jaws have a special interview series launching today!

In total, the interview series will be a whopping 50 episodes.

The first five episodes, which release today, feature Simon Pegg (“Star Trek,” “Mission: Impossible” series), Jack Quaid (“The Boys“), special effects legend Greg Nicotero, Dermot O’Leary, and Joe Lo Trugilo (“Brooklyn Nine-Nine“). Following the first five, two new episodes will release weekly.

Ross Williams, creator of The Daily Jaws, brought everyone together for the project, and conducts each of the inter views. “It’s been fascinating going beneath the surface with famous JAWS fans, finding out how the film has impacted and inspired them,” Williams, who will also appear in the upcoming Amblin and NatGeo “Jaws @ 50” docu, said. “It’s no boating accident that the film has had such a lasting and wide appeal and this interview series showcases that love and admiration perfectly.”

First-five-episode interviewee Jack Quaid has some big ties to the franchise, as his father, actor Dennis Quaid, starred in “Jaws 3D.”

“We’ve been privileged to interview the sons of two legends from the JAWS series,” Williams said. “First, the son of Quint actor Robert Shaw, Ian, and secondly with Jack Quaid, son of Dennis Quaid. It’s helped make it a real JAWS family affair.”

Ian Shaw was the driving force behind the stage show, “The Shark is Broken,” which told the making-of story of “Jaws” to great acclaim.

While the full list of interviews wasn’t revealed yet, some notable episodes you can look forward to include guitar legend Slash, musician/DJ Fat Boy Slim, writer Joe Hill, Charlie Benante, Lucrezia Millarini, and Tim Vine.

“These interviews show that the appreciation for this film only just seems to grow and grow,” Williams said.
“‘JAWS’ may be 50, but it is still far from long in the tooth and the shark and Spielberg are still
weaving their magic across multiplexes and new and old audiences alike. This shark is far
    from broken.”
