We’ve got some exciting news for all you “Avatar” fans out there. Emmy Award winner Steven Yeun (“Beef”) has signed on for a currently untitled animated film focusing on Aang. The upcoming film is backed by Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies.

At this time it is unknown if Yeun will bend water, air, earth, or fire since character details are being kept under wraps. Yeun will star alongside the previously announced Dave Bautista (“The Killer’s Game”), Eric Nam (“Transplant”), Dionne Quan (“The Fairly OddParents”), Jessica Matten (“Dark Winds”), and Román Zaragoza (“Ghosts”).

Lauren Montgomery (“Voltron: Legendary Defender”) will be co-directing with William Mata (“Dora and the Fantastical Creatures”).

The new movie will be based on the series “Avatar: The Last Airbender” created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. The show ran from 2005 to 2008 and told the story of a young boy on a quest to fulfill his destiny as the Avatar, and bring peace to a war-torn world.

DiMartino and Konietzko will be producing the film alongside Maryann Garger and Latifa Ouaou.

The untitled project is slated for release on January 30th, 2026. We’ll keep you posted on updates as they become available.
