“This is the project that never ends, yes it goes on and on my friends.” The film adaptation of Erik Larson’s bestselling book “The Devil in the White City” has been revived yet again. This time, 20th Century Studios has come aboard with talks of Leonardo DiCaprio starring and Martin Scorsese directing.

The 2004 novel “Devil in The White City,” tells the story of notorious serial killer Dr. HH Holmes, who killed anywhere between 27 to 200 people. Most of these murders took place inside his home in Chicago which had rooms specifically designed to end people’s lives. Many of these crimes took place while the city was swamped hosting the World’s Columbian Exposition of 1893.

While the film adaptation is still without a script, it will be based on Larson’s work. DiCaprio first acquired rights to the book in 2010. Over almost 15 years, it has taken on several forms, including a tv show for Hulu that never came to be. In its current form, the project is expected to be a feature-length film backed by 20th Century.

DiCaprio and Scorsese are also expected to produce with Stacey Sher, Rick Yorn, and Jennifer Davisson, a partner for DiCaprio’s Appian Way. 20th Century president Steve Asbell, head of Disney Live Action and 20th Century Studios David Greenbaum, and SVP Production’s Sarah Shepard will be overseeing for the studio. We hope this kind of support will finally get the project off the ground.

At this time, there is no expected release window for “Devil in the White City.” We’ll keep you posted on updates about this project as it continues to develop.
