“Godzilla: King of the Monsters” Celebrates Chinese New Year

Godzilla: King of the Monsters isn’t due to be released until May 31, but in honor of the Chinese New Year (Year of the Pig) Legendary Pictures
released official character posters of the ‘The Four Kings’, the film’s titular monsters, on February 5 joining in celebrating the Lunar New Year with Chinese fans of the Godzilla-franchise/MonsterVerse .

The posters feature Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan, and Ghidorah. King of the Monsters is a sequel to Godzilla (2014) and its synopsis states:

The new story follows the heroic efforts of the cryptozoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient superspecies, thought to be mere myths, rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.

The movie is rated PG-13 for sequences of monster action violence and destruction, and for some language.

Godzilla will return to face King Kong in 2020’s Godzilla vs Kong. As Legendary Entertainment also has Pacific Rim, there has also been speculation (or wishful thinking) that Pacific Rim might also merge into the MonsterVerse.

I am still waiting for that blue police box to take me on a star trek to a galaxy far, far away. Until then I will have to content myself with fantasy and sci-fi adventures from books, movies, and TV shows.
