The next chapter of the modern Planet of the Apes saga, “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes,” is set to hit theaters next year. According to actor Andy Serkis, it’s going to be mind-blowing. Serkis, who played the lead ape Caesar in the previous three films, recently shared his thoughts on the upcoming installment.

“I think Wes Ball is going to do an amazing job with this film,” Serkis said. “From what I’ve heard and what I’ve seen, there’s some amazing conceptual artwork. And where they’ve chosen to land the story and take off with the next iteration, I think it’s gonna blow people’s minds.”

“Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” has been a long time coming. The project was first announced by Fox in 2019. In 2022, the title and concept art for the fourth Apes installment were revealed, giving fans a glimpse of what’s to come. Based on what we know so far, it will take place centuries after Caesar’s passing, and will explore the legacy he left behind.

The idea of continuing the story from Matt Reeves previous films under Wes Ball’s watch has kept fans invested, particularly after seeing the beautiful work that went into his canceled “Mouse Guard” adaptation. With Serkis’ endorsement, anticipation for “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” has only continued to grow.

As Caesar famously said, “Apes together strong.” With Serkis’ seal of approval, fans can rest assured that the legacy of the modern Planet of the Apes saga is in good hands. “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” currently has a May 24th, 2024 release date.
