Is Hygge Lifestyle Still in Trend?

Yes, the hygge lifestyle trend is still around, and those who just want to chill still use it. For example, if you want to have a cozy night playing at Casino Verde, the hygge lifestyle may be a good fit for you. The thing is that there is another trend that is keeping up, and this trend is called lagom.

Today, we will talk about hygge and how to embody this lifestyle. We will also make a small comparison between hygge and lagom.

    What Is Hygge?

Hygge, pronounced hoo-gah, is a lifestyle that comes from Denmark. The Danish lifestyle emphasizes coziness. The goal of this lifestyle is to make yourself feel good.

As such, it means that you must be comfortable. Here are some ideas to get started:

    • Have a spot where you have peace and quiet
    • Have a cup of coffee or cocoa
    • Read a book in your cozy spot
    • Drink wine

Hygge is about simplicity and appreciating it. It is about a moment in your life where you appreciate what you have, no matter how little they are.

    What Is Lagom?

The word lagom is Swedish, and it means “just the right amount.” as a lifestyle trend, it is close to minimalism but also coming close to hygge. It basically means not too much but also not too little.

    Here are some examples:

    • Eating just enough
    • Getting rid of things in life you do not need, like clutter
    • Not having too much drama with friends
    • Being conscious about your purchases

Essentially, lagom is a lifestyle of taking only what you need. You cannot have things in excess of that. Lagom does not mean denying yourself of things—it is rather about a balanced lifestyle.

Hygge Versus Lagom: Which Is Better?

The big difference between hygge and lagom is the purpose and philosophy. Here is a summary:

    • Hygge – be cozy and happy
    • Lagom – do things the balanced way

As you can see, hygge is about your emotions. What you want in hygge is an experience that will make you happy. As such, you will spend money on wine, a good brew, or a book. Of course, simplicity is still paramount, but the cost is not the top priority in a hygge lifestyle.

In lagom, you are trying to become highly self-aware or self-conscious of your properties, spending, and the things that you own. It is something akin to minimalism, but without depriving yourself of the things, you need or want.

Lagom is essentially living a balanced lifestyle where you have nothing in excess. If you no longer need something, give it away.

Between hygge and lagom, it makes sense to practice hygge as it is about your happiness. Hygge concentrates on your experiences and emotions, while lagom is about managing your finances and living in an orderly manner.

Hygge is about happiness, while lagom is about contentment and self-control. The best thing to do, really, is to try to find a balance between these two lifestyle trends. For example, you can still be happy without spending too much.

How to Have a Hygge Lifestyle

Below are some ways to live a hygge lifestyle.

    • Quality time with family – quality, not quantity. You must spend some time with your family and play or do something that does not require your mobile devices. The time you spend with them will help nurture your relationship and make it stronger.
    • Sit by the fire – in the hygge lifestyle; it is not uncommon for people to sit by the fireplace and just relax. Since not all houses have fireplaces, you can sit by the balcony or in your backyard and then observe the stars. You can have a fresh brew of coffee, wine, beer—any drink that can help you feel good and satisfied.
    • Keep things simple – a key formula in a hygge lifestyle is simplicity. It means you should avoid clutter in your spot of relaxation. It does not mean that the furniture has to be cheap—you can spend on it if you want. The key here is that they should not be extravagant-looking.

It is also part of the hygge lifestyle to dim the lights and use candles. The flickering flames of the candle add a touch of mood to the area. The ambiance you want is relaxation, right? You can use artificial candles if you want, and you can also use dimmable smart lights.

Overall, the goal of hygge is to find that spot in your house where you can relax and find happiness through simplicity.

    Summary

We believe that hygge will continue to exist as a trend. It is a philosophy rather than a fad. In a world where we are too busy, we want to find a place in our homes where we can just relax. In a way, hygge makes it possible without having to spend a ton of money.
