Volkswagen Builds Super Awesome Motorized Office Chair

We’ve always thought the pinnacle of office chair mobility was the swivel. That five-pointed star of wheels allowing glorious 360-degree directional movement. Apparently, we were wrong. Volkswagen Norway has developed what they deem to be the peak of office portability- a motorized office chair with all the features of a car.

Behold, the company car! — https://www.volkswagen.no/no/norges-mest-populare-arbeidsplass-pa-fem-hjul.html

Created as a marketing exercise, the chair gives most modern vehicles a run for their money with the sheer amount of features. Tricked out with headlights, a touchscreen, USB ports, a full sound system, and heated seats. Oh, and did we mention that it comes with a seat belt and collision avoidance sensors? Because this workplace throne can drive up to 12 miles an hour. You’ll never have to outrun your coworkers to the break room when Harry brings donuts ever again!

Oh, and don’t worry about running anyone down, this decked out desk chair has a horn to ensure everyone knows you’re coming. A handy “trunk” — otherwise known as a large pocket — makes taking your documents and laptop to the meeting room a breeze. Make sure to wave to your peers as you rush by in a blaze of nerdy glory. Certainly brings new meaning to the phrase “Company Car,” doesn’t it?

Of course, this is only a marketing stunt. The chair’s been made for fun. It’s a novelty, like pizza-flavored ice cream. Volkswagen developers just wanted to see how much like a car they could make a chair. Seems pretty successful if you ask us. They will, of course, have it available to test drive at various locations so people can give it a go. So, um, any of those test drives in US?
