Playing video games and keeping fit are not particularly similar activities. However, as many of us spend more and more time sitting, perhaps even in front of the laptop playing slots or poker, the facts are you’ll be pleased to know that you can burn a lot of calories by playing games online. We’ve looked at the most successful video and gambling games of recent years and analyzed which of them are most effective at raising heart rate and burning calories.

The researchers asked gamers to play seven of the hottest video games for 90 minutes each and revealed how many calories they could expect to burn in subsequent gaming sessions compared to a real workout. Are you ready to be surprised? Here are the stats.

You can burn max 538 calories per gaming session

Gambling games at zodiac casino and classic video games cause excitement in players, increase their heart rate and make the body literally burn calories. The experiment revealed that Fortnite is the best video game in this regard, as players managed to burn 194 calories on average, followed by FIFA (189) and Call of Duty (188). Although Grand Theft Auto V came in last place, you can still expect to burn a decent number of calories during 90 minutes of gameplay (164), making it the perfect video game for a light workout.

Players’ heart rate peaks with Call of Duty

Whether it’s being minutes away from completing a mission you’ve worked on for days or just being able to survive a difficult enemy, the fact that some of our favourite video games are capable of getting your heart pumping isn’t a fairy tale, but a reality. At the same time, the study reveals that Fortnite has the greatest ability to increase heart rates on average, considering an increase of 89 beats per minute on average over 90 minutes of play.

On the contrary, Minecraft turns out to be the best video game to slow the heartbeat, making it the perfect choice among video games to relax while still burning a fair number of calories. You would have to do 162 push-ups to burn the same calories that you burn in 90 minutes of playing Fortnite.

Finally, the researchers asked the participants of the experiment to measure their heart rate during a workout session and then calculated how much exercise would be needed to burn the same amount of calories that would be burned in a game session. You’d have to do 162 push-ups or 239 sit-ups to equal 90 minutes of play in Fortnite, which makes it the best gaming alternative to a workout.

    Conclusion

The next time you plan to skip the gym for console play or live blackjack, check out this guide to figure out how long you should play to burn the calories you need. Feel free to share these funny statistics with your friends.
