EDX Markets is not a cryptocurrency, but rather an institutional-grade cryptocurrency trading platform backed by traditional financial giants such as Citadel Securities, Fidelity Digital Assets, and Charles Schwab. It aims to bring best practices from traditional financial markets to the digital asset space, providing institutional investors with a secure, efficient, and transparent cryptocurrency trading experience.

    Platform Features and History

    • Founding and Launch: EDX Markets was founded in 2022 and began processing spot trades in June 2023.
    • Business Model: The platform operates on a non-custodial model, meaning it does not directly hold clients’ digital assets, thereby reducing potential conflicts of interest.
    • Clearing Services: In 2023, EDX Clearing was launched as a central clearing house, designed to enhance price competitiveness, reduce settlement risks, and improve operational efficiency.
    • Technical Upgrades: In 2024, EDX Markets transitioned from the original MEMX technology to a proprietary matching engine to optimize trading performance.
    • Product Expansion: The platform continues to expand the range of supported trading pairs and features. For example, it plans to support USD Coin (USDC) as collateral and for USD settlement in April 2025.In addition, trading pairs for various cryptocurrencies—including ADA, AVAX, BONK, ETC, TRUMP, XLM, and XTZ—were added in March 2025.
    • New Service Launch: In February 2026, EDX Markets plans to launch FlowConnect™, a “Crypto-as-a-Service” (CaaS) platform designed to help other companies quickly launch their own digital asset trading products.
    • Regulatory Strategy: To further enhance compliance, EDX Markets submitted an application to the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) in April 2026 to become a national trust bank, with the aim of providing regulated custody and settlement services.

    Trading Products and Market Performance

    • Trading Products: Its U.S. spot trading platform supports more than 90 digital assets, including Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), as well as Dogecoin (DOGE) and Shiba Inu (SHIB). Its Singapore-based perpetual futures exchange lists more than 60 cryptocurrencies.
    • Trading Volume: Since January 2024, EDX Markets’ notional trading volume has exceeded $36 billion. The platform set a record of over $685 million in 24-hour trading volume in November 2024 and reached an average daily trading volume of approximately $200 million in December 2025.
    • Funding: EDX Markets has secured multiple rounds of funding, including a Series B round (amount undisclosed) led by Pantera Capital and Sequoia Capital, which closed in January 2024,as well as a $76 million Series C round led by Japan’s SBI Holdings, completed in July 2026, bringing its total funding to over $100 million.

edeXa Service Token (EDX): A Polygon-Based Utility Token

Unlike the EDX Markets platform, the edeXa Service Token (EDX) is an actual cryptocurrency and serves as the utility token within the edeXa ecosystem.

Token Use Cases and Technical Features

    • Token Use Cases: Within the edeXa ecosystem, the EDX token is primarily used to pay transaction fees and serves as an incentive mechanism to encourage user participation in network activities. EDX holders also gain access to platform-exclusive discounts and offers.
    • Technical Foundation: edeXa employs a Proof-of-Authority (PoA) consensus model to secure its public blockchain. This model validates transactions through a network of reputable, reliable, and technically capable business validators (masternodes). Ensuring the network’s security and efficiency.
    • Ecosystem Vision: edeXa aims to build a hybrid enterprise blockchain serving companies, organizations, and government agencies, providing secure, traceable processes to meet the needs of enterprise-level applications.
