Quentin Tarantino Alive and Well Despite Reports of His Passing

One thing we never want to do as a reporter is to write anything that is misleading. Unfortunately however many other sites employ this tactic for clicks and engagement. People who’ve monetized their social media may do the same. And that’s no different from monetizing other platforms such as X.

It’s been reported by Deadline that a user on X had written some misleading information on Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill director Quentin Tarantino. It had been reported that Tarantino had passed away following an Iranian air strike attack on Israel. Tarantino famously splits his time between LA and Israel so it would have made sense if you knew his habits. The post even wrongly attributed the information to Deadline as the source for the news. It’s important to note that Deadline DID NOT report on that and it was an outright lie by the user on X to get more traction on the post.

As you can see the post has now been liked 67 thousand times (at the time of this writing). And has over 15.7 million views. That’s a lot of misinformation that’s been spread online. To add to the incident, another post was put up (also crediting Deadline) that Jerry Seinfeld had been killed. And that he was killed in a way similar to how they were claiming Tarantino passed.

Grok Under Scrutiny Again for AI images of Tarantino in a bomb shelter

Multiple AI images were posted to X of the Kill Bill filmmaker in a bomb shelter. Deadline reports that these are ALSO FAKE. Some of the posts in question have been flagged by Grok, Elon Musk’s AI platform that he created through his company xAI. The software also has the ability to create images and has come under scrutiny before. Mainly for allowing users to create images of children in alarming situations.

The reason this is all believable in the first place is that the U.S. has entered into a war against Iran. Fear mongering isn’t unusual in times like this.

It’s important to note that anything you see on X needs to be fact checked first. Even if you see a viral post claiming something and millions of others have seen it and interacted with it. It’s probably better to not believe what you read online.
