Actor Shia LaBeouf was reportedly arrested in New Orleans on battery charges following an alleged altercation during a Mardi Gras bar crawl. Police say the incident occurred outside a Royal Street business after LaBeouf was removed for causing a disturbance. Authorities allege he struck two men before being restrained by bystanders and later taken into custody.
The actor was transported to a hospital before being formally arrested and charged with two counts of simple battery. Representatives for LaBeouf have not yet publicly commented on the situation.
Shia LaBeouf has had his share of controversy. In his early years reports of public intoxication, disorderly conduct arrests and confrontations with paparazzi and fans were prevalent. While many saw these as growing pains they started to sour his public reputation.
Later, LaBeouf would start up some very surreal public art displays. Like when he wore a paper bag that read, “I am not famous anymore.” Some praised these stunts and called them a good use of artistic expression. Others viewed them as attention seeking an ridiculed him for it.
Over the years, LaBeouf has had several arrests. These include disorderly conduct tied to alcohol-related behavior. Which makes sense given the recent news. He’s also has had more serious allegations, like the one brought on by his ex, FKA Twigs (Tahliah Debrett Barnett) about abuse during their relationship.
