Our feet might be the most neglected body part. However, you must take care of your feet so that they take care of your well-being. Wondering how you can do so in the new year? Read the following doctor-approved tips to take care of your feet.

    1. Wash Your Feet Regularly

Make sure that you keep your feet clean regularly. The time we take to clean our hair or other body parts may not the equal time, but it gives you some time to wash it properly when you are taking a bath.

Use a scrub or exfoliating scrub and make sure to clean your toes and the spaces between them. If you properly clean your feet, bacteria and dirt will not build up, which might later lead to a foot infection.

After you have washed your feet, take some time to dry them properly. If you leave your feet moist, it will lead to different foot infections. In case you have developed a foot infection, you might want to see a podiatrist or foot doctor.

    2. Keep Your Heels Clean

If you have cracked heels, corns, or calluses, it will lead to the buildup of hard and dead skin. If you have developed corns in the feet, you will feel discomfort while walking. It will feel like walking on walking with a small pebble under your feet, and a circular lump will show up.

On the other hand, calluses are larger than corns, and they may cover a large area of the foot. However, in both cases, discomfort while walking is a common issue.

From thick calluses develop cracked heels, and sometimes, cracked heels cause damage to the healthy tissues in the heel. To have a comfortable walking experience, you must remove corns, calluses, or cracked heels.

If you live in Montreal, for example, get in touch with a podiatrist in Montreal (podiatre Montreal).

    3. Massage and Moisturise Your Feet

If you want your feet not to develop cracks, keep them properly moisturised. Make sure that the feet are not dry and are hydrated at all times. Get a moisturiser for your feet and massage it on your feet regularly. This might not be talked about much, but it is one of the greatest ways to keep your feet moisturised and maintain the health of your feet.

    4. Shoe Comfort Matters

The comfort of walking in a soft and comfortable shoe needs no explanation than walking in a shoe that you don’t find comfortable at all. A comfortable shoe works like a cushion and helps to manage the health of our feet. It also protects us from hurting our feet when walking on a rough or uneven surface.

If you want to keep your feet in good health, go to the nearest reliable foot store and buy yourself a pair of comfortable shoes. Make sure to get a different pair for running, going to the office, and for casual walks. Specific shoes are designed to offer the best comfort to your feet.

A podiatrist or foot doctor may also suggest the type of shoe you need to be wearing to feel comfortable.

    5. Get Rid of Flat Thongs

Talking about the correct type of shoe to wear, get rid of the flat thongs. These are made of hard plastic, which is not good for the health of your feet.

Instead, use one of the podiatrist-approved flip-flops manufactured by reliable shoe brands. After using it for a few days, your feet will thank you, and you will feel the comfort.

    6. Don’t Go For Salon Pedicures

Nail salons or nail parlours do not always have the expertise to handle any fungal infections in your nails. Sometimes they use instruments to take care of nails with fungal infections without properly sterilising the instruments.

Moreover, these salons increase the risk of infecting your healthy nails. If an instrument had been used on some other person with a fungal nail infection, and the same instrument is used on your nail, then it can be dangerous for you.

If you are suffering from a fungal nail infection, you might want to visit a podiatrist in Montreal (podiatre Montreal).

    7. Don’t Neglect Any Existing Foot Pain

If you are currently suffering from foot pain, do not neglect it. Instead, go to a podiatrist or foot doctor. Get it sorted as soon as possible. All foot pain happens for a reason; it is a way for our body to send a signal that something might not be right in the foot.

Contact a podiatrist in Montreal (podiatre Montreal) to get your feet thoroughly checked, and if there are any issues found in your foot, get it treated without delay.

    In Conclusion

You may not realise this, but your feet are one of the most valuable body parts. Taking proper care of your feet will ensure comfortable walking and improve your work efficiency. Follow the above-mentioned tips to keep your feet healthy.
