10 Best Europe eSIM Options (Tested & Reviewed)

Planning a trip across Europe always brings one big question: which eSIM should I trust to stay connected?

After testing dozens of Europe eSIM options on recent trips through Spain, France, and Italy, I found some clear standouts. Among them, the iRoamly travel eSIM impressed me most with its balance of unlimited data and stable coverage across borders.

In this guide, I’ll share the 10 best Europe eSIM options I’ve personally tested and reviewed, so you can choose the one that truly fits your travel style.

    1. iRoamly

I first came across iRoamly travel eSIM when searching for a truly unlimited data eSIM for Europe. The company is relatively new compared to major carriers, but it positions itself as a travel-friendly eSIM specialist.

According to their website, they offer European packages that cover 33 – 48 countries, with options for unlimited data and hotspot support.

Their European plans include data-only and “total” plans (data + calls/SMS), and the ability to estimate your usage (e.g., YouTube, video calls, maps) is built into their site.

In summary, iRoamly travel eSIM presents itself as a robust option for travellers who want flexible plans across many European countries, with true unlimited capability and hotspot sharing built in.

    Advantages

    • Truly unlimited (or high-cap) data plans in Europe, including hotspot/tethering.
    • Competitive value: they emphasise entry-level plans and day-based flexibility.
    • Good partner networks across many European countries; installation process is straightforward (QR code, app).
    • Multi-device sharing (hotspot) supported — useful if you travel with a laptop/tablet.

    Disadvantages

    • Device & compatibility still require verification: as with all eSIMs, your phone must be unlocked, support eSIM and the relevant bands.

    2. Saily

Saily is a global eSIM provider (by the company behind the VPN brand) that offers European regional plans among many other destinations. According to review sites, their Europe eSIM covers 35 countries including major ones like Germany, France, Spain, Italy and the Netherlands.

On their website and third-party testing, Saily emphasises “premium Tier-1” network partners and a clean app experience.

In summary: Saily is a solid choice for travellers wanting a simple European regional eSIM with a good app experience.

    Advantages

    • Broad European coverage is good for multi-country trips.
    • Generally good installation and usability: many users mention the app is easy to use and the QR/activation is straightforward.
    • Additional features in their app such as privacy/security tools (depending on plan) may be a plus for travellers.

    Disadvantages

    • Mixed user feedback: There are numerous reports of activation issues, non-working esim on arrival, and customer support being unresponsive.
    • Pricing and plan transparency are sometimes unclear, and auto-renew / billing practices have been flagged as problematic.

    3. Airalo

Airalo is one of the more well-known eSIM platforms globally, with a wide collection of regional and country-specific eSIMs. According to TechRadar’s December 2025 guide, Airalo ranks as “best overall” for Europe eSIMs, covering 42 countries and offering data-only plans from small sizes.

From forum and blog reviews, Airalo’s Europe regional package is often recommended for short-term trips. Official reviews list both pros and cons: good variety, but some criticisms on price, support, and the lack of unlimited data.

In summary: Airalo is a mainstream, dependable choice for travellers who want flexibility and plenty of options—but it isn’t perfect.

    Advantages

    • Wide selection of countries and plans, especially for Europe.
    • Easy to find and purchase via app, with straightforward plan sizes for short trips.
    • Good reputation among many travellers for Europe use. On Trustpilot users say “never had a problem in Europe, USA or Australia.”

    Disadvantages

    • Many users report issues with activation, coverage reliability and customer service.
    • No true unlimited data plans for Europe via Airalo (in contrast to iRoamly, Holafly).
    • More expensive than some local SIM or competitive eSIM options, given performance variability.

    4. Holafly

Holafly emphasises unlimited data travel eSIMs, and their Europe product is marketed as “customisable unlimited” across about 33 countries.

In real-world user tests, Holafly performed well in major cities (good speeds) but also showed signs of hidden restrictions and customer support issues.

In summary: Holafly is a strong pick if you want unlimited data and travel across many countries—but you pay a premium and should be aware of potential performance/usage limits.

    Advantages

    • Unlimited data marketing: good for heavy data users (streaming, hotspot) in Europe.
    • Broad country coverage in Europe with automatic network switching reported by some users.
    • Good for multi-device sharing/hotspot (for moderate use) if you want one eSIM for phone + laptop.

    Disadvantages

    • “Unlimited” often comes with fair usage or throttling after certain thresholds. In rural/less-touristed areas some users reported slower speeds.
    • Higher price than many competitors. Some users say they paid significantly more for unlimited and question the value.
    • Customer service complaints: activation or connectivity problems and slow support escalation.

    5. Orange Travel

Orange Travel (the eSIM arm of the major French carrier Orange) offers prepaid Europe-wide eSIM plans including data-only and data + calls/SMS.

Coverage is claimed at “99% of country territory” via partner networks.

In summary: This is a more traditional carrier offering rather than a niche travel eSIM provider. It may appeal if you value voice calls/SMS and brand reliability.

    Advantages

    • Includes traditional services: some plans include data + voice + SMS, which many travel-focused eSIMs skip.
    • Strong European brand & networks: good country coverage and backup via partner networks.
    • Reusable and rechargeable: once installed the same eSIM profile remains and you can top-up online instead of reinstalling each time.

    Disadvantages

    • Some user complaints about setup/activation issues, and top-ups failing.
    • Support, while sometimes praised, also has many negative reviews: slow responses, payment issues, unclear instructions.
    • Less plan flexibility: fewer ultra-cheap micro-data options or unlimited data options compared to specialist eSIM providers.

    6. Alosim

Alosim markets itself as a travel-friendly eSIM specialist offering regional Europe coverage (35 countries) and flexible data packages, with features like a free international phone number via Hushed. On their website you’ll find Europe-wide eSIM plans and unlimited add-ons.

In short, Alosim presents itself as an affordable, flexible eSIM for European travel—particularly useful if you don’t need unlimited streaming but want straightforward data across many countries.

    Advantages

    • Very attractive pricing for Europe data: starts low and lets you top up.
    • Free international phone number included via Hushed in many plans—useful for calls/bookings.
    • Good coverage list: support across 35 European countries with LTE/5G networks.

    Disadvantages

    • Despite the “unlimited add-on” branding, some reviewers found that speed or coverage in rural spots was weak or unpredictable.
    • Activation/setup glitches: some users reported slow activation or needing manual APN changes.

    7. Nomad

Nomad is a well-known eSIM provider with a broad global footprint, and they offer specific European region eSIMs (data-only typically) covering many countries.

On their Trustpilot page they have tens of thousands of reviews (22 k+), with many praising ease of setup.

In summary, Nomad is a solid choice in the mid-tier eSIM category: good reputation, plenty of users, and reasonable pricing.

    Advantages

    • Large user-base and strong reviews: many travellers found it easy to install and reliable.
    • Competitive pricing for Europe region eSIMs—makes it attractive for moderate data use.
    • Intuitive app + good UX: many users say the app is user-friendly and the process fast.

    Disadvantages

    • Some users reported connectivity issues in certain European countries, or needing manual tweaks (APN, network) to get it working.
    • Refund or support process may be disappointing: one user wrote they waited long for a refund when it failed to activate.

    8. Roamless

Roamless is a slightly different eSIM provider in that it offers a pay-as-you-go “Flex” model (rather than strictly fixed-data bundles) which can be appealing for travelers who don’t know exactly how many days or how much data they’ll use.

According to several reviews on Trustpilot, users report smooth installation and good multi-country performance in Europe.

In short: Roamless is interesting for flexible travel scenarios, but you’ll want to check specific country coverage and support responsiveness.

    Advantages

    • Flexibility: Pay-as-you-go model means you don’t commit to a big bundle if you’re unsure of usage.
    • Multi-country Europe coverage: Many users say it worked seamlessly across countries like Italy, Sweden, etc.
    • Simple top-up experience and clear app interface.

    Disadvantages

    • Some users report poor support or slow response when things go wrong.
    • Because the model is pay-as-you-go rather than large bundled data, it may become expensive for heavy streaming/data use. Also, some country-specific pricing variance.

    9. Jetpac

Jetpac is another travel-eSIM brand that offers European region plans among other global destinations.

Many mention excellent customer service and activation ease when travelling in Europe.

    Advantages

    • Strong customer service: several reviewers mention fast support, especially via chat/WhatsApp.
    • Good Europe country coverage and decent speed in real-world tests (Netherlands, Italy, etc).
    • Clear plan structure and user-friendly app/website. Many new users felt comfortable.

    Disadvantages

    • Compared to ultra-budget providers, Jetpac may be slightly higher cost (depending on plan) and may not offer the largest data volumes/unlimited plans.

    10. GigSky

GigSky is a veteran in the travel eSIM/data space and offers Europe regional plans including “fixed” data and even “unlimited” style (with caveats) for Europe.

Summarising: GigSky is well-established, offers multiple plan types and reuse of the eSIM profile across trips—good for frequent travellers.

    Advantages

    • Reuse of the same eSIM profile for multiple trips/plans (once installed) — convenient.
    • Large country-coverage Europe region and trial option (500 MB free) to test before full purchase.
    • Various plan lengths/data volumes (1 GB up to 100 GB, plus “unlimited” variants) offering flexibility.

    Disadvantages

    • “Unlimited” plans subject to fair-usage throttling or hidden limits.
    • Some connectivity/coverage complaints: especially in remote regions or aboard ships/cruises.

    FAQ

    1. Can I install a Europe eSIM before I arrive in Europe?

Yes. Most Europe eSIMs, including iRoamly travel eSIM, can be installed before departure. Just wait to activate data roaming until you land in Europe to avoid early activation or time loss on your validity period.

    2. Are eSIMs refundable if they don’t work?

Some providers like iRoamly offer refunds if your eSIM fails to activate or connect, provided you report the issue promptly. Others may only issue credits, so review the refund policy before buying.

    3. Does using a Europe eSIM affect my phone number on WhatsApp or other apps?

No. Your WhatsApp and other messaging apps remain linked to your original number, even if your Europe eSIM provides only data. You can continue chatting as usual without changing your profile.

    Conclusion

Choosing the right Europe eSIM depends on how you travel, how much data you need, and how many countries you’ll visit.

Based on real testing, iRoamly travel eSIM remains my top pick for its reliability and unlimited data, but other options like Airalo and Holafly also shine for specific needs.

Whichever you choose, the right Europe eSIM can turn your trip into a seamless experience—no SIM swaps, no hidden limits, just easy connectivity wherever your journey takes you.
