Seasonal Maintenance Checklist for Popup Docks Before and After Stormy Weather

When you are fond of water sports activities or indulge in events at the lake or riverside, you will need certain accessories. One of these is definitely the Pop-up docks. However, you will need to buy quality inflatable docks and focus on care and maintenance. Sometimes, these accessories get damaged after heavy storms or prolonged rainy days. Certainly, you would not want to see your dock becoming damaged or torn after extreme weather events.

Why should you be prepared for storms and similar events?

When storms hit, the water levels near the shore or coast can go up quickly. The currents may shift, and high winds can drag unsecured docks into boats, seawalls, etc. A floating dock, when broken loose, can become a hazard to others. That is why you need to secure it well and cover it with some protective wrap, etc.

    Think of the regular care

Even if your area is not hit by heavy and frequent storms, it is necessary to look into the maintenance of such pop-up docks. Over time, weather elements like UV exposure and fluctuating air pressure cause damage to the dock. So, keep the dock clean and rinse it sometimes to make it last longer.

What can you do before a storm?

If you live in a region that witnesses storms from time to time, keep your dock prepared for such events. Here’s what you can do:

    • Watch the dock from all sides carefully and check every attachment. The Shackles and clips should be in good shape. Replace any worn components and tighten the attachments.
    • Do not leave any accessories on the dock when a storm is expected to hit. Leaving things like ladders, coolers, and pop-up chairs on such pop docks can lead to trouble. Detach removable parts and store them in a secure, dry location. When the dock does not have extra stuff, it reduces wind impact. It also reduces the risk of damage.
    • A fully inflated dock gets affected by air velocity. You may try reducing the air pressure a little. Then the dock can become ready to absorb impacts without bursting.

    Things to keep in mind

Once the storm hits the region, do not venture out to check the dock right away. Let the storm pass, and then go and look for any signs of damage. Once it is over, look for any abrasions, punctures, or warped sections.

It is necessary to rinse the dock after a storm with clean and unsalted water. Then check the dock after inflating it fully. Place it on calm water and check the stability by walking on it. Then you can reattach the ladders, popup chairs, or fishing gear and similar accessories.

    Summing it up

When you do not want to use the dock for a long time, ensure you dry it well and store it in the right place. Look for any trapped moisture, as that can damage the fabric. It is better that you buy such a pop-up dock from a reputable seller with a good warranty. For the desired experience, you can check out furthercustoms.com.
