“The Conjuring: Last Rites” Unveils 2 Annabelle Popcorn Buckets

The upcoming horror movie “The Conjuring: Last Rites” is getting two different entries into the popcorn bucket wars! Both designs are based on the franchise’s staple creepy doll, Annabelle, who eventually starred in her own spin-off films. While one of the designs leans into the creep factor, the other seems to have taken the “Dune Part Two” strategy.

The creepier design is for Regal Cinemas and has the doll sitting with a popcorn bucket between her legs. The bucket itself is textured and painted to resemble wood with  “The Conjuring: Last Rites” printed across it. Commentators online are already joking that the bucket may scare them more than the film, which will be the final entry into the franchise.

Now, this is where it gets weird: Cinemark’s exclusive bucket has you eating popcorn out of Annabelle’s…backside. This formed plastic bucket is shaped to resemble the doll standing upright in a white dress. When turned around, it’s revealed that there is a hole where her mid-back would be, which is hollow. And after the weirdly sexual debacle of the “Dune Part Two” buckets, commenters wasted no time in pointing out that people will be eating popcorn out of her ass.

While Annabelle is apparently immortal, she was created as a child’s toy. Giving this design more creepy energy than you can shake a sandworm at.

“The Conjuring: Last Rites” is the latest in a long line of films that have two different exclusive popcorn buckets. But we think this may be the wildest difference in tone that we’ve seen so far. One is running at horror, and the other is sprinting towards a camp factor that the franchise has tried to steer away from.

“The Conjuring: Last Rites” hits theaters on September 5th. You can check out a trailer below:
