How to Change Light Bulb Under Samsung Microwave

Before attempting to replace any part of your Samsung microwave, including the light bulb, you should check the user manual. All necessary instructions regarding installation, safety, and replacement procedures are provided in the user manual which you can find on https://manuals.online/.

Due to product differences, the exact method may vary. Some models may require additional steps. If the user manual does not contain information about your specific model, it is highly recommend to contact the Samsung technical support team.

Unplug the Microwave or Turn Off Power

To replace the light bulb under a Samsung microwave, first unplug the microwave or turn off the power at the circuit breaker. Never replace the light bulb while the unit is connected to power.

    Remove the Vent Cover

Open the microwave door. Remove the vent cover mounting screws. After removing the vent screws, slide the vent grill to the left, and then pull it straight out.

    Locate the Light Cover

Find the light cover on the underside of the microwave. Remove the screw from the light cover and lower the cover until it stops.

    Remove the Old Bulb

Unscrew the bulb and remove it. If the bulb has a silicone seal, use a small knife to cut the seal. Be careful not to break anything.

    Install the New Bulb

Install a new bulb of the same type and wattage. Use a 120V 40W bulb. You should check your user manual for the exact wattage.

Do not touch the new bulb with your bare hands, especially if it is a Halogen bulb. Always wear clean gloves or use a clean cloth.

    Reassemble the Microwave

    After installing the new bulb:

    • Reinstall the bulb cover
    • Tighten down the screw
    • Replace the vent grill
    • Reinsert the screws
    • Plug the microwave in or turn on the power

    Why the Microwave Light Matters

This small halogen light is not necessary for the microwave to work, but it enhances its features and use. The light is your only way of tracking how well your food is cooking.

    Without a working light bulb:

    • You cannot tell when your food has finished cooking
    • A burnt meal isn’t just unpalatable—it can also make you ill

    Contact Technical Support If Needed

If you do not feel comfortable replacing the bulb yourself, it is highly recommend to contact the Samsung technical support team.

They will assign the issue to a Samsung Authorised Repair center, and the job will be left to a registered technician to complete.

    Additional Notes

Depending on the model, your Samsung microwave may have one or two light bulbs — one underneath the unit to illuminate the stovetop, and another inside the cooking chamber. This guide focuses on replacing the under-unit cooktop light.

Some models may have slight differences in how the bulb is accessed. If your microwave has a different layout — for example, if the bulb is located behind a back panel — refer to the user manual for specific instructions.

Always make sure the microwave is unplugged or powered off at the circuit breaker before attempting any repair.
