Actor and rumored time lord Keanu Reeves (“John Wick”) is done fighting angels (like in 2005’s “Constantine). Now, he is starring as an angel himself in Aziz Ansari’s (“Parks & Recreation”) feature directorial debut, “Good Fortune.”
Lionsgate has just released the film’s first hilarious teaser trailer.

“Good Fortune” follows Gabriel (Reeves), a well-meaning but kind of inept angel, who decides he wants more responsibilities. This leads him to intervene in the lives of a struggling gig worker (Ansari) and a wealthy venture capitalist (Seth Rogen).
The teaser opens on Gabriel discussing his need for more “meaningful duties” with Martha (Sandra Oh). “I want to guide people; I want to change their lives,” he laments. Martha advises him that “to save a lost soul, you have to find a lost soul.”
Thankfully they are on a rooftop in Los Angeles so finding a lost soul happens almost immediately when he spots Ansari’s character. When Gabrial approaches him and explains he is an angel here to help, there is obvious skepticism. Even calling Gabrial “a budget guardian angel.” After that hilarity ensues with bumbling attempts at aid and your general fish out of water story fare.
The star-studded ensemble cast also includes Keke Palmer (“Nope”). It’s produced by Ansari, Anthony Katagas, and Alan Yang.
“Good Fortune” is slated to hit theaters on October 17th. You can check out the trailer below:
