“John Wick 5,” 2 Spinoffs Confirmed at CinemaCon

It might be April Fool’s but it feels more like Christmas for fans of the “John Wick” universe. Lionsgate is going all in on the world of “John Wick” as the franchise dominated their announcement panel at CinemaCon. They kicked things off in style by showing the Vegas crowd a brutal trailer for the Ana De Armas led spinoff “Ballerina.” The highlight was of course the confirmation that we will see Babayaga himself, John Wick (played once again by Keanu Reeves) actually face off against the deadly dancer.

The Wickiverse news didn’t stop there. It’s no surprise they confirmed John Wick 5 will be officially happening. We were delighted to learn that Donnie Yen will not only reprise his role as the blind assassin Caine (as previously announced), but also direct.

They’re also expanding into a new medium, with the announcement that Shannon Tindle (“Ultraman: Rising” “Lost Ollie”) will be helming an animated prequel film. The film will explore how Wick got his start with the “Impossible Task” that broke him out of the killing game (only to of course later get sucked back in).

“The John Wick films combine everything I love about movies – iconic characters, unique worlds, stunning cinematography, and mind-blowing action. I’m thrilled to collaborate with these brilliant folks to tell an emotional and action-packed love story in a way only animation can,” Tindle said via his Instagram.

Your next “John Wick” universe fix will be “Ballerina” which hit theaters on June 6, 2025.
