John Carpenter Volunteers to Score Bong Joon Ho’s Next Movie

Filmmaker Bong Joon Ho (“Mickey 17,” “Parasite”) had the most adorably awesome fanboy moment over the weekend. At a 4K restoration screening of “The Thing,” he got to interview one of his heroes, horror legend/recent Hollywood Walk of Fame inductee John Carpenter (“Halloween”), which is cool enough on its own. During the interview, Carpenter volunteered to score one of Bong’s upcoming projects.

A video of the event shows Bong giving a preamble asking if Carpenter still scores movies. He followed that by announcing that his “next next” film would be a horror movie. Before Bong could even get the question out, Carpenter said; “I wanna do your score.” The two then shook hands which is basically as good as a signed contract!

Bong took a few moments to process the situation, then held up his arms in victory as Carpenter laughed hysterically. With that, the pair created possibly the most wholesome exchange in the horror community this year.

We cannot wait to see what new horrors Bong has cooked up, let alone hear new music from Carpenter. We’ll keep you posted on updates about this project as they become available. You can watch a clip of the deal going down below:
