A24 has just released the first trailer for its upcoming film “Materialists.” The new romantic comedy is written and directed by Oscar-nominee Celine Song (“Past Lives”). It stars Chris Evans (“Deadpool & Wolverine”), Pedro Pascal (“The Last of Us”), and Dakota Johnson (“Madame Web”).
“Materialists” follows Lucy (Johnson), a young ambitious New York City matchmaker whose professional life starts bleeding into her professional life. This leaves her torn between Randy (Pascal) who she met at an event and who seems like her perfect match, and her imperfect ex John (Evans). Resulting in a love triangle that strains Lucy’s confidence in her career.
Johnson, Pascal, and Evans star with Marin Ireland (“Justified: City Primeval”), Louisa Jacobson (“The Gilded Age”), Zoe Winters (“Cold Wallet”), Sawyer Spielberg (“Christmas Eve in Miller’s Point”), and Dasha Nekrasova (“The Code”).
