Fan-Made “Atlantis The Lost Empire” Trailer Takes Internet by Storm

In 2001, “Atlantis: The Lost Empire” hit theaters about an intrepid group of explorers on a quest to find Atlantis. The animated film was a rare critical and commercial flop for Disney Studios but has since become a cult hit.

Among this fandom is filmmaker Jonathan Munoz, who just released a really cool fan trailer of what a live-action adaptation might look like. Disney currently has NO plans to do a live-action remake of the film. This trailer is purely Munoz’s vision for what it would look like if one were to be developed.

We are being this nitpicky on language because despite the video clearly saying “Fan Trailer.” And despite opening with a warning saying this isn’t real and isn’t “affiliated with Disney in any way.” The video went viral in less than 24 hours, and we’ve already seen outlets acting as if it’s real, even with Munoz practically screaming it isn’t.

In all fairness, this is a really well-done fan trailer for a project a lot of people would like to see. So it makes sense that people would be quick to hit the share button. Just make sure you do so with proper context and don’t caption it in intentionally misleading ways.

Who knows, maybe if this gets enough traction the project could become real. But again, worth reminding you a “Atlantis: The Lost Empire” live-action remake is not currently in the works.
