Mara Jade’s “Star Wars” Lightsaber Coming to Disney Parks

Growing up, we think it was pretty much everyone’s dream to own a replica of their favorite “Star Wars” characters’ lightsaber. For fans of Mara Jade Skywalker, that dream may soon be your reality. Disney and Lucasfilm are releasing a lightsaber hilt based on the beloved character.

The catch is these will be very limited-edition, with only 3,500 produced worldwide across the parks and online store.

For those lucky enough to nab one these sets, they include a highly detailed purple Legacy Lightsaber Hilt, a limited-edition issue #1 comic book with a variant cover of the comic version of “Mara Jade by The Emperor’s Hand,” and an individually numbered insert. All of this comes in a wooden box with sliding doors that have the design for Empire on one side and the New Jedi Order symbol on the other.

Mara Jade Skywaker was first introduced in Timothy Zahn’s 1991 novel “Heir to the Empire.” It was a “Star Wars” Expanded Universe (EU) book that kicked off his iconic Thrawn Trilogy. While she isn’t currently considered a cannon charcter, she has appeared in several other novels and comic books. Her story is one of light and dark, and she eventually marries Luke Skywalker, and has a child with him.

The Mara Jade replica lightsaber hilt will go on sale at 8 AM (Pacific) on Saturday March 8th through The Disney Store (the link will be inactive until it’s released). They are priced at $325 a set. These will also be available in person at Walt Disney World and at Disneyland in the Black Spire Outpost souvineer shop, Dok Ondar’s Den of Antiquities.

All 3,5000 units are being spread between those three locations, meaning they will more than likely sell out fast online.
