Bird Drops Severed Hand into Schoolyard in Ireland

Usually, the worst thing a person has to worry about from a bird flying over you is being crapped on. You’re just trying to relax, get your life together, and then a bird poops on you. C’est la vie, right? It’s not the worst thing that could happen, and there are even some cultures that say it’s good luck.

It’s not like the bird was carrying human remains and just dropped an entire human hand on you! That’s not going to happen. Except….it did. In a schoolyard in Ireland.

On February 21st, a CCTV camera caught footage of a human hand being dropped onto the ground of a school in Darndale, Dublin. Further examination determined the hand likely belongs to a child, and was brought in from another location. School was not presently in session. Despite the oddity of the situation, authorities already have a macabre lead.

The previous night to the discovery, an accident occurred at a bonfire in a nearby location. An explosion involving a gas canister occurred, injuring a 12-year-old boy. Part of his hand was lost in the incident, and sadly, wouldn’t be too far of a stretch to imagine that the hand was picked up by a scavenging bird.

Police have not yet confirmed this, but they are under the belief the two incidents are connected. The boy involved in the explosion is alive, and at the time of this writing, was being treated in hospital.
