It’s been 60 years since Hammer Films graced horror hounds with a new monster. The studio just announced it is unleashing the mysterious “Ithaqua” onto the big screen. This film is directed and co-written by Casey Walker (“Overlord and the Underwoods”) with Pascal Trottier (“A Christmas Horror Story”) and Peter Scott Vicaire.

“Set in the brutal wilderness of 1800s Canada, the fur trade is in decline and a remote outpost is starving,” reads Hammer’s Instagram post. “A mercenary fights to unite the survivors against the cold, the hunger… and something far worse. A dark force is watching. Waiting. And those who fall into its grasp are cursed with an insatiable hunger for flesh”
“Ithaqua” has already entered production and stars Luke Hemsworth (“Gunner”), Kevin Durand (“Vikings,” “Abigail”), Michael Pitt (“Reptile”), Craig Lauzon (“The Great Salish Heist”), and Leenah Robinson (“Don’t Even”). It promises to be the definition of horror; “terrifying and utterly unforgettable.”
This early into production, there is no set release window for “Ithaqua” yet. We’ll keep you posted on updates about the project as they become available. You can check out Hammer Films’ full announcement below:
