The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) strives each year to honor the best British and international contributions to film with the British Academy Film Awards. This year, they will honor acting legend and social advocate Warwick Davis, with the BAFTA Fellowship! This fellowship recognizes those who have made outstanding and exceptional contributions to film, games, or television.

It is considered BAFTA’s highest honor.

    Warwick Davis, “Willow Disney+

Davis was born in Surrey, England with spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia congenita, a rare form of dwarfism. This didn’t stop him from conquering Hollywood though. The actor has starred in iconic films like “Willow,” “Labyrinth,” and “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.” As well as playing recurring characters in the “Harry Potter” and “Leprechaun” franchises and several roles in the “Star Wars” universe. He was hand-picked by creator George Lucas to play Wicket in “Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi.”

BAFTA is honoring him not only for his incredible filmography but also for his work in creating more inclusivity on screen. In addition to his work in front of the camera, he runs Willow Management, an agency that represents actors under five feet and over seven feet tall. His Reduced Height Theatre Company, also supports actors under five feet tall.

Davis is a co-founder of Little People U.K., a charity that offers resources to people with dwarfism, their families, and friends.

    Davis’ Thoughts

“The Fellowship, to me, embodies the spirit of inclusivity, creativity, and collaboration that BAFTA stands for,” Davis said. “This recognition is not just about the body of work I’ve contributed but also about the people who’ve stood by me and the audiences who have made this journey worthwhile.”

“I accept this Fellowship in honor of everyone living with dwarfism or any form of difference, reminding us that our uniqueness can be our greatest asset,” he adds. “I also want to acknowledge the wonderful colleagues and friends who’ve worked behind the scenes – costumers, makeup artists, camera crews – who quietly and tirelessly pour their hearts into every production. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for this incredible honor. I look forward to continuing to champion fresh perspectives, advocate for better representation, and inspire the next generation of storytellers to dream big. Thank you, BAFTA, for believing in my journey.”

Davis will receive his award on February 16th during the BAFTA Film Awards.
