    “Terrifier 3” Becomes Highest-Grossing Unrated Movie Ever!

    Art The Clown is still in theaters kicking ass and taking names! Damien Leone’s “Terrifier 3” has made $55.1 million at the worldwide box office, making it the highest-grossing unrated film of all time!

    “Terrifier 3 crosses $50M at the worldwide box office and officially becomes the highest grossing unrated film, even surpassing the highest grossing NC-17 films,” Leone posted on X (formally Twitter).

    On domestic alone “Terrifier 3” has raked in $44.5 million. Running circles around “Terrifier 2”’s $15.7 million combined worldwide box office numbers. Not only did Art beat out his own movie he snatched the crown from the queen bee herself Beyoncé. That’s right, the previous highest-grossing unrated film was “Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé.” The concert film/documentary ended its theatrical run at $33 million domestically and $43 million worldwide.

    Like previous entries to the franchise, “Terrifier 3” is written and directed by Leone. This time he has Art the Clown (David Howard Thornton) wreaking havoc on the unsuspecting residents of Miles County on Christmas Eve. Facing off against his old foe Sienna (Lauren LaVera) and her brother Jonathan (Elliott Fullam).

    Returning cast and characters also includes Victoria Heyes (Samantha Scaffidi) and Burke (Chris Jericho). Makeup effects legend Tom Savini, Jason Patric, Antonella Rose, Krsy Fox, Clint Howard, and Jon Abrahams provide the film with some new blood.

    The film’s success could be chalked up to Art being considered one of the first original horror icons of this decade. Or it could just be horror hounds insatiable love for a good yuletide slasher. 

    But between this year’s monumental success of “Terrifier 3” and “Longlegs” it seems fans are speaking with their wallets and demanding more daring original IPs. 2023’s “M3GAN,” also dominated the box office on an original IP (albeit it with FAR more studio backing). This seems to be becoming a trend that many cinephiles can get behind.
