Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures recently made some exciting updates to their release calendar. Among those changes included a new Monsterverse movie slated to hit in 2027! This will be the sixth installment in the decade-long franchise.

The upcoming film is directed by Grant Sputore (“I Am Mother”) from a script by Dave Callaham (“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”).

    The Monsterverse So Far

It will be the latest addition to the franchise that kicked off with 2014’s “Godzilla.” Followed by 2017’s “Kong: Skull Island,” 2019’s “Godzilla: King of the Monsters,” and 2021’s “Godzilla vs. Kong.” The most recent addition, “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire,” raked in over $2 billion at the global box office making it the second-highest opening of the MonsterVerse films. It’s also the highest opening of director Adam Wingard (“Death Note“)’s career.

The MonsterVerse has also spun off into the series, “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” on Apple TV+. The show is heading into its second season with more spinoffs planned for the future.

“Apple TV+ has struck a new multi-series deal with Legendary Entertainment, which includes multiple spinoff series based on the franchise,” states a recent press release.

The currently untitled upcoming entry into the MonsterVerse is slated to be released on March 26, 2027. We’ll keep you posted on updates about this project as they become available. In the meantime, you can check out “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” streaming exclusively on Apple TV+.
