This just in-
after half a decade, we’re FINALLY gonna get a show about “Green Lantern” and the Lantern Corps! It’ll be an 8-episode series, with Chris Mundy (“Ozark,” “True Detective: Night Country“) serving as showrunner.
The focus for “Lanterns” will be on DC Comics characters Hal Jordan and John Stewart, two of the longest-running to carry the mantle of Green Lantern.
Mundy will co-write the series along with Damon Lindelof (“Watchmen,” “Lost“) and Eisner Award winner Tom King.
“We’re thrilled to bring this seminal DC title to HBO with Chris, Damon and Tom at the helm,” DC Studios co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran said in a statement. “John Stewart and Hal Jordan are two of DC’s most compelling characters, and ‘Lanterns‘ brings them to life in an original detective story that is a foundational part of the unified DCU we’re launching next summer with ‘Superman.’”
Obviously with “Lanterns” getting a straight to series order, there is likely to be additional news about casting (and whether or not this will be live-action) soon. It, like other projects, will be officially branded as HBO Originals, rather than MAX.

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
