Netflix Shows Americans Can’t Stream Without a VPN

Imagine settling into your couch for a cozy movie night, only to find that the Netflix show topping your list isn’t available in your region. This common frustration leads many viewers to explore tools like VPNs, which unlock a broader spectrum of streaming options.

    What is a VPN?

Think of a VPN, or Virtual Private Network, as a channel for secure internet browsing. It routes your device’s internet connection through a server in your chosen location instead of your own.

This process encrypts your data and disguises your geographic location to make it seem as if you’re browsing from the server’s location. Consequently, you gain access to internet content, including streaming services like Netflix, that may be restricted in your area. This automatically broadens your streaming choices while bolstering your privacy as well.

Now let’s dive into a curated list of Netflix shows that are typically geo-restricted and how you can access them from anywhere in the U.S. using the best VPN services.

    1. Jurassic World trilogy

The Jurassic World trilogy has captivated audiences with its thrilling dinosaur adventures. Still, unfortunately, the latest entries are not available on Netflix in the US:

    Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

Just after the chaos caused by the Indominus rex in 2015, a mercenary team lands on deserted Isla Nublar to retrieve DNA from its remains, but a Mosasaurus disrupts their mission. The Tyrannosaurus attacks the team’s helicopter, yet they escape, inadvertently freeing the Mosasaurus into the ocean.

Three years on, as a volcanic eruption threatens Isla Nublar, debates rage over the dinosaurs’ fate. Dr. Ian Malcolm argues for letting nature reset the balance, but Claire Dearing, former Jurassic World operations manager, fights to save them with her Dinosaur Protection Group.

Ignored by the Senate, Claire is summoned by Sir Benjamin Lockwood, who plans to move the dinosaurs to a new sanctuary with his aide Eli Mills. They need Claire to track the creatures, especially Blue, the last Velociraptor. However, herself, Owen Grady, her former colleague and a velociraptor trainer, and others face multiple threats, including betrayal, as their mission unveils a sinister plan to sell the dinosaurs on the black market.

    Jurassic World Dominion

Jurassic World Dominion is the third and final installment of the Jurassic World trilogy and the sixth in the Jurassic Park series. It’s directed by Colin Trevorrow, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Emily Carmichael based on a story by Derek Connolly and Trevorrow. This science fiction action film wraps up the epic storyline that started with the original ‘Jurassic Park’ in 1993.

    1. Rick and Morty

Rick and Morty is an American adult animated science fiction sitcom that features the Smith family. It comprises Jerry and Beth, their children, Summer and Morty, and Beth’s father, Rick Sanchez, who also lives with them in a suburban home in the American Midwest.

The series primarily tracks the adventures of Rick and Morty as they travel numerous realities across planets and dimensions through portals and Rick’s flying saucer.

    1. The Office

The Office is an American mockumentary sitcom that aired from 2005 to 2013 on NBC. It is adapted from the original BBC series created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, which ran from 2001 to 2003.

Over its nine seasons, this series expanded its simple concept of chronicling everyday life in an ordinary American office into a rich narrative filled with twists, subplots, and romances. By the end of its run, it had produced over 200 episodes!

Fun Fact: Jenna Fischer revealed that The Office employed a unique casting method where scripts were not used. Instead, the producers posed questions to the actors, who then answered in character during their auditions.
    1. Friends

The series follows six friends—three men and three women—as they navigate their quest for love and connection. The unique personalities and quirks of the group engage a wide audience and fuel the show’s humor. Monica Geller, portrayed by Courteney Cox, is a chef who often changes jobs and boyfriends in search of the perfect match. Her brother Ross, a divorced paleontologist played by David Schwimmer, has a deep-seated crush on Rachel Green, a fashion-forward woman from an affluent family portrayed by Jennifer Aniston, who initially works as a barista before advancing to a career at Ralph Lauren.

Lisa Kudrow plays Phoebe Buffay, an eccentric masseuse and aspiring musician, while fan favorite / struggling actor Joey Tribbiani is portrayed by Matt LeBlanc. Throughout the series you can frequently see him seeking guidance from his life-long friend, Chandler Bing, a financially stable but romantically challenged statistics and data analyst played by the late Matthew Perry.
