Pepsi Releasing 2 New Limited-Edition Flavors in Summer

They say that smell is the sense that is linked the closest with memory. Whether that’s true or not, there is no mistaking there are certain smells of summertime that do bring to mind vivid mental images. The aroma of sunscreen, cut grass, chlorine in a swimming pool, and of course, food. Cookouts are a big part of the summer dining experience, and Pepsi is drawing on that to bring some limited-time flavors to you very soon.

According to Pepsi, when it comes to summer, it’s the time to grill. That’s why they’re breaking out two special flavors, Pepsi Lime and Pepsi Peach. Now, the lime makes sense in how it’s often used in a number of beverages due to its tangy taste. As for the peach, well yeah, there’s drinks for that too, as well as peach ice tea. Does seem a bit more of a stretch when it comes to the grilling aspect, but if it means we get some more Pepsi flavors to guzzle down, sure, peaches and grilling are the perfect combo.

This isn’t the first rodeo for Pepsi with lime anyway. There was a time, nearly 20 years ago now, when lime based soda products were all the rage. Coca-Cola and Pepsi had released dueling lime flavored beverages. Coca-Cola kept theirs up until only a few years ago in the United States, Pepsi dropped theirs like, two years after they unveiled it in 2004. So welcome back Pepsi Lime, its been two decades but we missed you.

Pepsi Peach is brand new, at least to the United States. There’s a peach and oolong tea flavored Pepsi drink that’s been available in China for a few years now. Who needs oolong tea though when you can have the unmitigated awesomeness of pure peach goodness in your soda? If that’s what you want, then that’s what you’ll get when it hits store shelves soon, for a limited time only.

You may remember that last year, Pepsi did another summer promotion but with a pineapple flavor. They teamed up with Little Caesars. Get it? Pineapple with pizza? Well, this time the soda comes with a gimmick as well, Bobby Flay. Yup, whether you asked for them or not, (we certainly didn’t) Bobby Flay is partnering with Pepsi to give you tips on grilling. Because we can’t just have anything nice in the world anymore without some kind of string being attached to it.

Still, keep an eye out in stores for your Pepsi summer flavor fix. Maybe Pepsi Lime could come back again to stay this time.
