Imagine just going about your business and nearly being un-alived by a runaway sawblade. That’s what happened to one man who’s day job is ironically a construction worker. You would think that the job site should be more dangerous than just being out and about but this makes me rethink everything.
Shane Reimche of Invision Construction in Oregon was just missed by a four-foot diameter runaway circular sawblade. Its trajectory was straight toward Reimche who had just shut the door after entering a local Quick Trip Market convenience store. The blade was stopped by the closed door and appears to have embedded into the door about 1 foot, so it’s likely that it broke through to the other side.
“I was walking into the store here, I put my hand on the door and I heard a loud bang and yelling,” Reimche told KEZI News 9 about his close call. “Just as a cloud of smoke pops up and I see a guy fall in the ditch. And a four-foot blade hurtling at me. Last minute I was able to duck behind the counter.”
The saw blade is being attributed to NW Natural construction site. “This incident involved a contractor at a NW Natural job site. We are reviewing our association with this contractor, and we have removed the contractor from other work for us for now,” A spokesperson for the company said. “NW Natural’s safety team is working with the contractor as they write a report on the incident to identify the root causes of the mishap and what needs to be corrected in the future.”.
They are currently investigating.
