Mike Tyson to Fight Jake Paul Live on Netflix This July

Former heavyweight boxing champion “Iron” Mike Tyson is often considered one of the best professional boxers in the world. Tyson was such a menace in the ring that he was dubbed “the Baddest Man on the Planet.” This moniker is backed by the 50 wins in his 58 match career, 44 of which were knock outs. Not to mention being the undisputed world heavyweight champion from 1987 to 1990. Though he officially retired from the world of boxing in 2005, he plans on stepping back into the ring soon.

Tyson has agreed to fight YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in a live event that will stream on Netflix.

Of all the things that could possibly happen in 2024, this is not something we ever conceived as possible. We aren’t sure which is crazier; 57-year-old Tyson fighting 27-year-old Paul, or the fact it will be a Netflix exclusive event.

Tyson’s last fight was an exhibition match in 2020, which ended in a draw, against Roy Jones Jr. Coincidentally, Paul also fought on the same card in a preliminary match against former NBA player Nate Robinson. Paul’s professional boxing career began in 2020 and has currently won 9 of 10 fights, with 6 wins being knock outs.

“It’s crazy to think that in my second pro fight, I went viral for knocking out Nate Robinson on Mike Tyson’s undercard,” Paul said. “Now, less than four years later, I’m stepping up to face Tyson myself to see if I have what it takes to beat one of boxing’s most notorious fighters and biggest icons.” Paul has claimed he will “put Iron Mike to sleep” during the fight, and has even joked about Tyson’s face tattoo and the infamous ear biting incident.

“He’s grown significantly as a boxer over the years, so it will be a lot of fun to see what the will and ambition of a ‘kid’ can do with the experience and aptitude of a GOAT,” Tyson said. “It’s a full circle moment that will be beyond thrilling to watch; as I started him off on his boxing journey on the undercard of my fight with Roy Jones and now I plan to finish him.” Tyson recently uploaded a video of himself training, showing he still has the skill and speed that gave him the notoriety he has today.

Netflix plans on announcing more matched for the undercard soon. The July 20th fight will be held at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
