Retailer Loungefly has chosen to cut ties with a two of their partners; Sapphire Sky Boutique and Merch Ventures. The pop culture accessory giant typically partners with small businesses to sell exclusive products. However, some fishy things have led to the company cutting ties with those two in particular.

On December 6th, 2023 Loungefly released a statement on X (formerly Twitter). “Loungefly prides itself on working with authorized small-shop retailers to bring exclusive Loungefly products to our fans,” the tweet reads. “We are aware of the unfortunate situation with Sapphire Sky Boutique and Merch Ventures and are no longer working with either retailer.”

For those unaware, Sapphire Sky Boutique and Merch Ventures are in a bit of hot water. Both retailers have been accused of failing to deliver product orders, and not giving refunds. Customers have been allegedly waiting over a year to get items they pre-ordered without a word from either company. Evidence of Sapphire Sky Boutique being evicted from their warehouse surfaced online in a reddit post. As of October 2023, Sapphire Sky Boutique has filed for bankruptcy. It is also rumored Funko is investigating the retailer.

Both retailers’ online stores are down, showing absolutely zero products, or the sites being marked as unavailable. Many customers have listed complaints of orders being marked as “pre-shipment” for months and unanswered emails. The discourse has gotten so bad that customers are warning one another that the retailers are allegedly scammers.

Hopefully these issues will be rectified quickly. We will continue to report on this once more information becomes available.
