Was a Disneyland Guest Photobombed by George Lucas?

There’s something mildly bizarre about seeing a celebrity in passing. Outside of red carpet events, it’s weird seeing them just wandering about, despite the fact that they’re normal people, outside of work. But the status of a person adds some weight to seeing them out in public. Like this accidental spotting of George Lucas at Disneyland.

After a patron developed a roll of film from a visit to the park in 2005, they noticed that someone very similar to Lucas was sitting in the background of their picture with Brer Rabbit.

In 2005 my family took a trip to Disney. When we got these pictures developed we always used to joke that George Lucas was in the background of this photo. We never actually thought it was him. We were going through old pictures today and realized it may actually be him… pic.twitter.com/h2qBF1Kv8j

Turns out it probably IS Lucas! Photos from WDWmagic.com in 2005 with Jedi Mickey proves that Lucas was in fact at the park that day. Apparently Lucas was visiting the park on Star Wars Day in celebration of “Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith.” The photo is a bit like spotting a cryptid, especially with Lucas sat so unobtrusively in the background. Talk about your six degrees if separation!

Replies to the post are pretty hilarious. Comparing Lucas to some specter only seen in photographs to stating that he haunts Disney parks. All in good fun, of course. Even if some of us might have our opinions on the prequel movies and wish to see them exit this timeline. It’s still one of those bizarre occurrences that makes for a great, if short, story.

There’s always this great moment, too.
