The upcoming film “Ferrari” directed by Michael Mann has an intense new trailer. The movie will focus on Enzo Ferrari (Adam Driver), the Italian automotive mogul behind the legendary car company. Not only will it follow the manufacturer’s development, but Ferrari’s personal turmoil as well.

Set during the summer of 1957, it follows the ex-Formula 1 racer as he decides to build a factory and establish a brand. We see him testing the limits of these new cars, sometimes with deadly results. At the same time, he is dealing with a stormy relationship with his wife/business partner Laura (Penélope Cruz) after the death of their son, Dino. To top things off, he has another family with mistress Lina Lardi (Shailene Woodley) and their son, Piero.

Between personal turmoil and the company running out of money, Ferrari obsesses about winning the Mille Miglia, a treacherous 1,000-mile race across Italy. The trailer uses quantum mechanics to frame these two all-consuming desires. Specifically, the concept that two objects cannot occupy the same space at the same moment in time. As you can imagine the competing needs for personal and professional success lead to a montage of dramatic footage.

With a script by Troy Kennedy Martin, the film is based on the book, “Enzo Ferrari: The Man, the Cars, the Races, the Machine” by Brock Yates. It will also star Patrick Dempsey as driver Piero Taruffi, Jack O’Connell as driver Peter Collins, Sarah Gadon as Linda Christian, and Gabriel Leone as Fon de Portago.

Mann serves as producer, along with P.J. van Sandwijk, Marie Savare, John Lesher, Thomas Hayslip, John Friedberg, Laura Rister, Andrea Iervolino, Monika Bacardi, Gareth West, Lars Sylvest, and Thorsten Schumacher.

“Ferrari” will hit theaters on December 25th. You can check out the new trailer below:
