Grammy-winner Usher is officially the headliner for the Super Bowl LVIII Apple Music Halftime Show. The singer confirmed his performance through a post to his X account on Sunday, September 24th, 2023.
The “Yeah!” singer will be taking center stage at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas during the Apple Music Halftime Show. Perhaps his current residency in Las Vegas helped seal the deal for the performance. There was a lot of speculation as to who would take the stage after Rhianna‘s performance this year. Usher, Roc Nation, and the National Football League (NFL) have all confirmed the R&B artist got the job.
“It’s an honor of a lifetime to finally check a Super Bowl performance off my bucket list. I can’t wait to bring the world a show unlike anything else they’ve seen from me before,” Usher said in a statement. “Thank you to the fans and everyone who made this opportunity happen. I’ll see you real soon.”
The announcement post the singer posted to his account was interesting, to say the least. How else is one supposed to describe “Confessions, Part II” Usher getting a call from future Usher, saying he got the job? Now all that remains to ask is who else will perform with the artist. Our money is on a high possibility of Lil Jon and Ludacris joining him on stage. We could also see Keke Palmer joining him to preform some of the choreography for his song “Boyfriend.”
Rhianna’s performance at the 2023 Super Bowl is the most watched halftime show of all time. Usher previously performed at the 2011 Super Bowl with the headliners the Black Eyed Peas. Now it’s his time to shine and perform on the “world’s biggest stage.”
Super Bowl LVIII will air on CBS on February 11th, 2024.
