Jamie Foxx Playing God in “Not Another Church Movie”

Oscar winner Jamie Foxx is playing the role of God in the upcoming movie”Not Another Church Movie.” Foxx will be playing opposite Mickey Rourke‘s Devil. The film, from writer-director Johnny Mack, was shot prior to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.

The remaining ensemble cast includes Kevin Daniels, Vivica A. Fox, Tisha Campbell, Jasmine Guy, Kyla Pratt, and Lamorne Morris. This upcoming comedy by Monty the Dog Productions is aiming to be quite the wild ride. Taylor Pharry (Daniels) is given a holy mission from God: tell his family’s stories and inspire the community. The problem is Taylor’s family and community themselves, not to mention the Devil has his own plans. Suffice it to say, Rourke’s Devil is definitely serving sinister comedy.

Producers James Michael Cummings, Jim Cardwell – former Warner Bros. executive, and Executive Producer Valerie McCaffrey are very pleased. Working with Foxx as God sounds like it was everything and more than they expected.

This film will be the latest in Foxx’s line of work, alongside “They Cloned Tyrone” and voicework for “Strays.” The singer/actor has been recovering from a health scare since April 2023, but is looking forward to making a comeback.

I have to say the choice to have Foxx’s charismatic talent playing God, is definitely eye-catching. The title of the movie does give me certain expectations. Maybe it’ll be in the same comedic vein of “Not Another Teen Movie.”

“Not Another Church Movie” is expected to have a theatrical release later this year.
