A Beginner’s Guide to There Is No Light

There Is No Light isn’t the newest game out there but Xbox fans have been dying to play the game. Well, the wait is over. The game is finally out now for the Xbox consoles and given its high-octane and fast-paced gameplay, some form of help is definitely needed.

Not to worry, we’re here to help! In this article, we’ll be presenting you with some useful beginner tips and tricks that you can use to make your gameplay much more enjoyable. And if you are planning to get the game for your Xbox, be sure to do so with the Xbox Live Gift Card from OffGamers!

    Let’s begin!

    Healing Items Are Extremely Reliable

One thing that is always an issue with beginners is surviving. Trust us, if you don’t know what you are doing, you’ll be dying a lot in this game. A small and effective way to mitigate this is through healing consumables which we highly recommend newbies have in stock at all times.

Although, we have to stress that healing items are very limited in There Is No Light. You’ll need to be super resourceful in how you use them because the game only offers a few on different levels. As such, use them when you really feel like you are expecting death. Save them up for tight situations because they can truly get you out of a pickle.

    Charged Attacks Are Abusable

Before we get into charged attacks, let’s talk a little about the different attack types in this game. Fortunately, the developers made it easy for us where the types of enemy attacks are separated through a colour scheme; red, yellow and white.

The red marker on top of the enemies indicates a weak attack, yellow is mildly strong and white is the most powerful. The best ways to go about these attacks are to use normal attacks to mess up red attacks, and charged attacks for yellow. As for white attacks, they cannot be blocked and must be dodged instead.

Therefore, we can safely say that charged attacks should be your go-to mode of attack. They can interrupt a large portion of attacks so they are always your best bet. Again, you’ll need to bear in mind when the white attacks are coming because you’ll need to be evasive.

Plus, the reason why we advocate for charged attacks is that they do provide a stun if you land them successfully. Being able to have the momentary seconds to do whatever you want can mean a whole lot of difference if used correctly.

    Be Versatile With Weapons

Part of the fun in There Is No Light is how you can experiment with multiple weapons. Messing around with different weapon combinations is not only fun but can drastically improve your gameplay. It might take some theory-crafting but it’s worth the time.

Normally, good players will try to mix up their weapon options, integrating both far-ranged and short-ranged weapons into their arsenal. That way, you’ll have multiple answers against various enemies you will be encountering. Of course, there is no definite answer to what the best combination is, the best way is to find it out yourself by mixing and trying different weapons.

Try Not To Ignore Too Many Quests

We understand that sometimes players can get totally immersed in the game’s main storyline. That’s good and all but occasionally, it is best if you complete some quests that come your way because these quests will disappear.

These quests are usually presented by NPC throughout the game and there’s a good chance they’ll be gone because they might end up dead. Yes, we’re not kidding here. The moment the NPC dies, the quests go along with them. This is not to say do every quest you encounter but these quests do somewhat alter the storyline of the game. We’re not going to go fully detailed because you know, spoilers.

Take Your Time Venturing The Whole Area

If you’re not speedrunning the game, we highly recommend investing your time in exploring every corner of the area because it is really easy to miss out on things.

Most of the time, you can even find consumables in the most subtle of areas and as we mentioned, these items are pretty scarce so, be sure to scout the area thoroughly for them.

Other than consumables, there are actually a lot of hidden secrets and easter eggs you can find if you are keen enough to look for them. Again, we don’t want to spoil first-time players as these secrets are part of the fun and charm of the game. Don’t rush, take your time and explore as much as you can—who knows, you might actually find something interesting!

It Is Sometimes Wise To Escape

As much as it is fun to take down enemies in this game, sometimes, it is best to not push your luck too far, especially if you are new to the game. Once you notice you are against the odds and you’re not winning, run as fast as you can!

This is even more true if you know that there is a checkpoint nearby and there are hordes of enemies standing your way. In this scenario, the most effective way is to dash through them because technically, you don’t need to slay every enemy that comes your way. All things considered, it is even worse to die and respawn somewhere way further than you currently are.

    Final Thoughts

Yay! We’ve finally made it to the end of our beginner’s guide to There Is No Light! Truly, it is an indie masterpiece and one every soulslike lover should try out. Sure, the game is not the easiest and you’ll have to go through several deaths to get good at the game. Hopefully, this guide can make these deaths less painful!
