Ryan Gosling Sent Greta Gerwig a Ken Flashmob for Her Birthday

Director and co-writer of the billion-dollar “Barbie” movie Greta Gerwig just celebrated her 40th birthday! For the occasion, star Ryan Gosling sent her a flash mob performing songs from the movie’s soundtrack.  Which is probably the most Ken-energy gift we can think of.

A TikTok posted to the official “Barbie” movie account shows a confused Gerwig watching, as a line of male dancers streams into the room. While they all dance to Gosling’s Billboard hit “I’m Just Ken.” That is until the song is interpreted by the lead single off of the soundtrack, Dua Lipa’s “Dance the Night.”

After that, a stream of women clad in various shades of pink enter the room. In typical Barbie fashion, they all do a choreographed dance together, complete with claps. By the end of the dance, a teary-eyed Gerwig exclaims “Who are you?!”

The dancers give her enough hints to figure out this was the work of Gosling, right before Gerwig starts to hug everyone.

And Gerwig certainly has a lot to celebrate right now. On top of her birthday, the “Barbie” movie has already hit the $1 Billion mark at the worldwide box office. Making it the highest-grossing film directed by a woman in history!

The film’s soundtrack is also a hit on the Billboard charts and features songs by Billie Eilish, Ice Spice, and Nicki Minaj. As well as another track by Gosling, a cover of Matchbox Twenty’s hit “Push,” which is starting to become a viral sound on TikTok.

With all the success of the movie, odds are Warner Bros. will order a sequel. However, Gerwig, Gosling, and Barbie herself Margot Robbie, haven’t signed any contracts indicating that they are required to stay on for future movies. While they all certainly seem proud of their work and may want to return. The ongoing SAG and WGA strikes are putting most projects on hold.

You can check out the birthday flash mob below. Nerdbot wishes Gerwig a very happy 40th birthday!
