After being released for 5 years, Deep Rock Galactic is still a popular game among co-op gamers. Except for Steam, Depp Rock Galactic is also available on Microsoft Store, Xbox, and PlayStation. If you and your friends bought this game on different platforms, you may wonder does Deep Rock Galactic has a crossplay feature so you can play together.

In this article, we will guide you through the crossplay feature of Deep Rock Galactic, let’s get started.

    What is Deep Rock Galactic?

Deep Rock Galactic is an online co-op FPS game developed by Ghost Ship Games and published by Coffee Stain Publishing. The game was first released as early access in 2018, two years later, it was fully released on Steam, Microsoft Store, and Xbox One. And in 2022, it was also released on PS4/5 and Xbox Series X/S.

All over the years, Deep Rock Galactic has received a high reputation for its solid quality, interesting gameplay, and devoted developer support. It supports at most 4 players to play as space dwarf miners perform tasks and fight dangerous alien creatures on a planet called Hoxxes IV. There are four classes with unique abilities and equipment for you to choose from, the environment is procedurally generated and fully destructible, which makes every game run unique too. If you are a co-op shooter game fan of games like Left 4 Dead or Helldiver, then Deep Rock Galactic is definitely a must-play game for you.

    Is Deep Rock Galactic Crossplay?

Since Deep Rock Galactic had been released on various platforms from Xbox to PlayStation, a lot of players wonder whether Deep Rock Galactic supports a crossplay feature. In fact, there is a Deep Rock Galactic crossplay feature, but not all platforms have it.

Basically, Deep Rock Galactic players were divided into three groups depending on where they bought the game. Among the three groups of DRG players, crossplay only works for Microsoft Store and Xbox, so the players can play together.

However, Steam players are unable to play with them even though Microsoft Store players also play on computers. According to the official info, this is because the Xbox/Microsoft Store version is an Xbox Play Anywhere Title, which means buying the game from the Microsoft Store you own it on both Xbox and Microsoft Store.

As for players who want a Deep Rock Galactic crossplay PS4 to PC, the PlayStation version is similar to the Steam version, players can only play with other players who bought Deep Rock Galactic on PlayStation.

Will There Be a Better Deep Rock Galactic Crossplay Feature?

Currently, the crossplay feature in DRG isn’t good enough, it does support cross-generation play like PS4 with PS5, but it’s still far from the real Deep Rock Galactic cross-platform support.

The developer, Ghost Ship Games seems to know that too. In 2022, they mentioned that they are working on Deep Rock Galactic crossplay between Playstation and Steam or Xbox in the update post of season 2. There’s no further news for that crossplay feature in 2023, but as Ghost Ship Games said, they won’t make any promises since they are only a small team after all.

Bonus: How to Add More Fun to Deep Rock Galactic with Fineshare VoiceTrans

Communicating through voice chat is common in multiplayer games, and so is in Deep Rock Galactic. Proper communication can enhance your teamwork with fellow players, have you ever wanted to add more fun to the gameplay with a voice changer? If so, VoiceTrans could be a good choice for you.

VoiceTrans is an AI real-time voice changer & soundboard tool. You can choose a voice effect and apply it during the game, there are 30+ voice effects available, such as Minion, Venom, and Darth Vader. If none of the original voice effects suit your preference, the Voice Labo can help you make a new one by combining various audio effects.

With VoiceTrans, your voice chat with teammates in Deep Rock Galactic will be more fun. What’s more, there are over 1000 AI voice models that allow you to generate and send voice messages to your squad.

    Conclusion

Having a crossplay feature in a multiplatform game like Deep Rock Galactic is essential since players are spread on different platforms. We hope this article can answer your doubts about Deep Rock Galactic crossplay, and wish you have fun playing this wonderful game.
