Oh, Florida Man. Will your exploits never cease to amuse? The Florida Man in question was the one getting a shock this time. When Florida resident John Riddle noticed the bathroom door leading to his pool was left ajar and found a very angry iguana stuck in the toilet. A black spiny-tail Iguana, apparently.
Not so stunned as to freeze up, Riddle immediately moved a baby gate into the doorway leading to the rest of his house. Ensuring that the frightened, upset reptile wouldn’t try to escape into the rest of Riddle’s house. Apparently the iguana didn’t expect to find himself where he was either. Perhaps the creature had been looking for somewhere warm to hole up during the night and found that a cave-like porcelain bowl is not a good place to hide.
“He was splashing and hissing at me. That’s when it turned around and opened its mouth,” Riddle said. “I was scared; I’m not a reptile fan. I was trying to work up the nerve to grab him and throw him out. But before I did that, he crawled out and crawled behind the toilet. And that’s when I grabbed the strainer and shooed him out.”
Riddle says the iguana dove into his pool for safety, climbing out and scuttling into the bushes later. We’re pretty sure that Riddle will be double, or triple-checking that his poolside bathroom door is closed from now on. Luckily, no one was hurt in the process. Just a very startled iguana and a shaken human. The iguana will probably think twice about open doorways next time, too.
