Blackpool Zoo in England wants to hire a real life scarecrow, or in this case a scare seagull. If you’re a friendly person who has lots of energy, and also likes to scare birds while wearing a giant bird costume, this may be the job for you. Our gut instinct says that they maybe looking for someone younger such as someone in college or as they say in England “University.”

Blackpool Zoo is a seaside resort and they’ve stated in the job listing that seagulls are becoming a nuisance to the visitors. Stealing food from patrons and animals in the zoo. They’re not just hiring one person for the position but a “Flock” of people to dress up as “Seagull Deterrents.”

Applicants will help the zoo “do what we can to keep the seagulls away from our main visitor dining areas, which is why we are looking for a team of people to join our Visitor Services team as ‘Seagull Deterrents.”

According to the job listing, they’re looking for people who are:

    • Visitor Focused
    • Friendly
    • Energetic
    • Flexible
    • Outgoing – as you need to be comfortable wearing a bird costume!

This may not be the most traditional job but it would be a fun first job for anyone looking for work in that area.
