Gilmore Girls: Where Are They Now?

Just three days after the release of “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life” on Netflix, nearly 6 million viewers had already binged this popular series. Released in 2016, this Netflix-exclusive mini-series features four lengthy episodes, each updating Gilmore Girls fans on the life of beloved characters. Each of the four episodes of this series is divided into seasons, following a year in the life of the Gilmore Girls, their friends, and their family.

After the seventh and final season of Gilmore Girls aired in 2007, the cast looked different in the 2016 version. As fans watch, many have wondered what the cast of Gilmore Girls has been involved in since the final season and what they’re up to today. If you’re curious too, keep reading as we explore where each of the cast members is today.

    Logan Huntzberger: Matt Czuchry

Matt Czuchry plays a vital role in the later seasons of Gilmore Girls as Rory’s boyfriend and fiancé, Logan Huntzberger. In the show, Logan is portrayed as Rory’s adventurous and risk-taking sidekick, always participating in thrill-seeking stunts and gambling with friends. If Gilmore Girls were filmed today, it’s no question Logan’s character would be seen betting in an online casino with real money, however, the online casino had not yet risen in popularity when the show was initially filmed. But the character has lots of adventures in the series, anyway.

In the updated version “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life”, Rory and Logan are still shown as seeing each other, even though Logan is married. In the final episode of the updated version, fans are left questioning once again the future of Rory and Logan as Rory questions if Logan is the father of her pregnancy.

Since his role as a risk taker in Gilmore Girls, actor Matt Czuchry has been seen in many other acting roles. He has been seen in other TV dramas such as “The Good Wife”, and “Friday Night Lights”, and stars a main role as Dr. Conrad Hawkins in the FOX TV medical drama “The Resident”. FOX has recently announced that this show will be canceled after the final season airs, noting a decrease in viewership.

    Rory Gilmore: Alexis Bledel

Actress Alexis Bledel plays Rory, a vital component of the “Gilmore Girls” duo. Landing the role of the daughter of Lorelai Gilmore, the show follows the life of Rory as she ages throughout the seven seasons. From season one where Rory is a teenager to the final season where she graduates college, fans of the show have become invested in Rory’s life. In the four-episode mini-series, Rory is shown at a crossroads in her life and career.

After the conclusion of the show in 2007, Alexis Bledel starred in several hit movies, such as “Crypto” (2019), “Post Grad” (2009), and the Hulu TV series “The Handmaid’s Tale”. Due to her incredible acting in this Hulu-exclusive show, Alexis Bledel was awarded a Primetime Emmy Award in 2017 for “Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series”.

Fans of the popular show were recently disappointed when Alexis announced she would not return to the show for season 5. The actress did not give a clear reason as to why she was cut from the show.

    Lorelai Gilmore: Lauren Graham

Of course, the other half of the “Gilmore Girls” duo is Lorelai, Rory’s vibrant and talkative mother played by Lauren Graham. In the 2016 “Year in the Life” mini-series, Lorelai has finally married long-time partner Luke Danes (played by Scott Patterson) and local diner owner of “Luke’s Diner”.

After her role on the show came to an end, Lauren went on to land a major role in another “motherly” role-playing Sarah Braverman on “Parenthood”. This show aired from 2010 to 2015, taking up most of the actress’s time over the following years.

In addition to her acting roles, Lauren Graham went on to write three books. Her book “Talking As Fast As I Can” quickly became a New York Times Bestselling book as it discussed her role in Gilmore Girls and Parenthood with a collection of personal essays.

    Luke Danes: Scott Patterson

Since his role as a beloved diner owner in Gilmore Girls, actor Luke Danes has also been seen in several acting roles, such as “Aliens in America” and FOX’s hit show “90210”. Not only has Scott been seen in several TV shows and movies since the conclusion of Gilmore Girls, but he also launched a Podcast titled “I Am All in With Scott Patterson”, which provides fans an interesting insight into the show as Scott watches the show for the first time since it aired.

    Final Thoughts

Despite their accomplishments in other roles, Avid fans of the Gilmore Girls’ cast still question whether the show will receive another update by Netflix, showing where characters are today. With the final episode leaving us with many questions, this show would certainly receive excellent viewership if Netflix decided to make a second remake.
