Pixar’s Next Film “Elemental” Gets Official Trailer

Pixar is introducing us to its brand new world of elemental beings coming this summer! The animation giant released a full trailer for its upcoming film, “Elemental.” Those of us who grew up loving Pixar’s films are ready for a new story to be told. Particularly given the top notch storytelling of “Turning Red.” Pixar’s films always try to push the boundaries of what’s possible for 3D animation. And this one looks to be no exception.

    “Elemental” Pixar

“Elemental” follows young fire being Ember, who’s life is more defined by what’s expected of her rather than what she wants. Until the routine of her life gets disrupted by what would appear to be a somewhat accident-prone water being named Wade. From what the trailer illustrates, this looks to be a romance with an emphasis on realizing that trying only to do what’s expected of you can be a detriment. A pretty classic trope, but Pixar’s in the business of telling personal stories. More than likely the story head for this movie is speaking from experience.

We’ll also be getting a new Pixar short, “Carl’s Date.”

    Pixar

Each of Pixar’s films usually develops new techniques for textures, atmosphere, or style. Finding ways to animate the elements in ways that make them wholly unique to themselves was likely a challenge. And it’s certainly paid off. Despite Wade and Ember being fluid-like elements, they both move completely differently. Where Ember looks translucent and weightless, Wade has more density and, well, fluidity. It looks very charming and will more than likely cause a few tears as only Pixar can.

“Elemental” will be released in theaters June 16th, and is offered as a 3D experience.
