What’s the difference between live Roulette and Lightning Roulette?

Roulette is one of the most popular casino games around, so there’s little surprise that there are so many variations of the game. All players have their favourite type, but it may be nice to broaden your horizons when it comes to the amount of Roulette options on offer.

With live and Lightning Roulette being just two of the Betfair Casino online Roulette games available, let’s see how they differ, so you can choose the one that’s best for you!

    Live Roulette

The live version of this game has become a phenomenon, as it replicates how you would play in a real-life casino – something you could never have imagined when the online casino world first began!

In this variation, you play with a real dealer, thanks to web cameras. You can speak to other players in the live chat feature of the game, simulating how you’d meet new players in real-life. Before the real dealer spins the wheel, you will place your bets and then watch the action unfold.

Unlike some Roulette variations, live Roulette needs certain software to work efficiently to create a fair game. One form of technology that is vital for this is Optical Character Recognition (OCR), which translates each move made by the dealer into data. It relies on cameras that follow the Roulette table action, delivering quick results and enhancing gameplay. Without this, the live option would not be safe or fair to play.

This Roulette variation is perfect for those who want to experience the experience of a live casino without leaving their house!

    Lightning Roulette

The standard version of Lightning Roulette is not live, so that’s the first main difference, and will follow the rules of either European or French Roulette.

The main difference from the other variations is that it incorporates gameshow elements and specific numbers that can multiply your prizes anywhere between 50x and 500x.

The game starts, but the new rules begin once all bets are placed. A Random Number Generator (RNG) predicts how many specific numbers between one and five will gain you these multipliers, then the numbers are chosen, determining the prize amounts for each number. If one of these numbers is one you’ve made a straight bet on, the prize is yours!

Compared to a game of live Roulette, you can win more for the same bet, so will you take your chances?

    Live Lightning Roulette

Yes, you read that right – the elements of the two games have been combined to create another variation of Roulette! And with this game, there are even more options to choose from.

Once all bets are placed, the numbers attached to multipliers will be randomly chosen by the live dealer, with lightning strike visuals, making for an even better experience!

Enjoy the best of both worlds by playing a game that has a better house edge compared to your standard Roulette game, as well as features to create that land-based casino atmosphere.

Whether you prefer live or Lightning Roulette, why not combine their unique differences by trying your chances at Live Lightning Roulette?
