    Mom from “A Christmas Story” Melinda Dillon has Passed Away

    We are very sorry to share the news that Oscar and Tony nominated actress Melinda Dillon has passed away. Arguably best known for her role as Ralphie’s mom in the classic film “A Christmas Story,” Dillon had been a working actress since 1963.

    In Steven Spielberg’s iconic “Close Encounters of the Third Kind,” Dillon played Jillian, mother of Barry and witnesser of the bright lights in the sky. Her beautiful performance received an Oscar nomination for her work in the film.

    Melinda Dillon’s family confirmed the sad news. She passed away on January 9th, at the age of 83.
