Pedro Pascal Meets “SNL” Castmember Matt the Clicker

There’s probably not a current tv watcher who doesn’t know the name Pedro Pascal. The Mandalorian-turned-post-apocalyptic-protector is killing it with his current roles. Both his roles as Din Dijarin in “The Mandalorian” and Joel in “The Last of Us” melt our hearts as protectors of children. While Ellie might be a little more of a handful, Pascal’s solemn duty as the jaded Joel is making the HBO series a huge hit.

Which is why his appearance as host for “Saturday Night Live” diiiidn’t quite go the way he’d assumed. In a promo piece announcing his spot as host, the actor is perusing the empty set. Pumped and ready to go, things become suspicious as someone clatters about behind the scenes. Curious, Pascal heads into the innards of the film set, only to be faced with a Clicker, one of the blind cordyceps from “The Last of Us” that is the bane of every player’s — and Joel’s — existence.

Pascal leaps into action, immediately spying a hammer and makes to end the life of this terrifying creature. Only to be stopped hilariously by “SNL” stars Sarah Sherman and Molly Kearney. Shame on you, Pedro! That’s not just any Clicker! That’s Matt! Outraged, the two berate Pascal for going after their newest cast member. So much for first impressions. And Kearney vows she’ll be watching Pascal closely after this little mishap.

It’s a hilarious promo for Pascal’s entry as “SNL” host. Given the degree of work done on Matt’s make-up (Louie Zakarian and team), it’s likely a skit involving “The Last of Us” is in the works. For all his drama work, people remark often as to just how funny Pascal is. So he’s likely a perfect fit for the upcoming episode. Coldplay will be the musical guest for the February 4th, 2023 episode.
